10 Ways to Stay Organized in College

It’s THAT time again! Summer is ending. You’re receiving those REALLY annoying emails about ordering your textbooks and purchasing your parking pass. *Eye roll* We know college isn’t easy, so we wanted to share some tips to help you stay organized while you balance school and your social life.

  1. Stick to a Schedule: You’re probably thinking… how am I going to have enough time to go to class, study, socialize, eat, workout, shower, sleep? The list goes on. Yeah, it sounds SO overwhelming!! The key to it all is staying on a schedule. The 8/8/8 method is a way to responsibly spend your time. 8 hours for sleep, 8 hours for education, 8 hours for everything else. Literally, write it out on a 24-hour schedule. Don’t forget to squeeze in time to relax!!!

  1. Keep Your Planner Close by: You know how your mom always reminded you about any appointments you had? Well, your planner is the next best thing. She will ALWAYS have your back. Syllabus week is the time that you should write down important dates in your planner. Grab a set of jotters and assign each of your classes a different color! It will make your life so much easier!

  1. Pick Out Your Clothes the Night Before: Let’s be honest… we either have that friend that is dramatic about their outfits and said they weren’t going to a function because they didn’t have anything to wear OR we are that friend. Either way, it’s okay. Save the drama and time in the mornings by picking your outfit the night before class!

  1. Save your Syllabi: Save it. DON’T lose it. Reference your syllabus every now and then to make sure that your class is on track! You might even realize that you missed an important date in there somewhere.

  1. Always Have a Clean Desk: Clutter is not cute. Clear your desk off every night before you jump into your fav pajama set. A clean room will keep your mind at ease and make things easier to find.

  1. Make Sure Your Backpack is Stocked: Of course, you’ll need the basics: pens, pencils, and your laptop. But when we say make sure your backpack is stocked, we mean STOCKED, girl. Chapstick, scrunchies, headphones, gum, water, and SNACKS!!

  1. Set Timers While You Study: This right here is a game changer!! It is so much easier to stay focused and motivated if you work in bursts of time. Set a timer for an hour and study as much as you can. When time is up, take a break! Grab a snack, put on a face mask, and rest for 30 minutes. Timers will prevent you from scrolling through Tik Tok when you should be studying.

  1. Find a Study Buddy: Grab your best girl and head to the library! Finding the perfect study buddy will help you keep you accountable. You might even create some memories that you will never forget!

  1. Learn to Say No: FOMO is real, but sometimes you have to say no. Put your education before nights out on the town. You will be glad that you did!

  1. Take Care of Yourself: It is so easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle and forget to take care of yourself. Make sure that you are drinking water, eating plenty of food, working out, and NEVER forget to wash your face, girl!!

College is an experience you will never forget. Make the most out of it and chase your dreams. You got this!
